Winter Squash. This heavily warted Italian heirloom is as impressive on the vine as it is in the kitchen! Huge, 10-30 lb dark green fruit will develop on vigorous vines. Rich, sweet flesh is yellow-orange in colour. Hands down one of the best varieties for pies or soup! In traditional Italian cuisine it is a popular filling for ravioli, and used to make gnocchi. It is mouthwatering when baked - for a sweet and savoury delight, cut 2-4” wedges, brush them with olive oil, rosemary and salt, then roast in the oven (400F) until the edges caramelize to a nutty brown and the flesh is soft. Once you taste ‘Marina Di Chioggia’ you will never want to be without them again!

Easy to grow plants are disease and pest resistant. Conserve space by growing on a large trellis. Hand-pollination will ensure fruit production (female flowers will form later, and will have a miniature fruit at their base). Excess male blossoms can be harvested and fried in butter for a summer delicacy. Fertilize plants weekly and water regularly. Once cured, squash will store for up to 6 months. Harvest before a hard frost.

Harvest: 95 days

Height: vines of 10-15’

Plant Spacing: 8-10’
