Cantaloupe - Petit Gris de Rennes (2.6" pot)

$2.50
sold out

This French heirloom is prized for its dense, 2lb fruit that is superbly sweet and flavourful. One of the best cantaloupes you will ever taste!

Melons prefer very rich, well-drained soil. To conserve space, grow on a large trellis - this will also aid pollination. Fertilize weekly, as plants are heavy feeders. If growing on the ground, place straw or cardboard beneath melons to prevent soil contact. As melons begin to ripen, prune new flowers and reduce watering. Harvest when dark green rind adopts a light yellow hue. Ripe melons will produce an intoxicating aroma and slip easily off the vine.

Note: Melon leaves are full of calcium, making them an excellent addition for the compost heap at the end of the season!

Harvest: 85 days

Height: vines of 4-6’

Plant Spacing: 18-36”
